Force For Good

Overview

The Force For Good app (FFG app), is part of the Force For Good integrated digital solution. Offered as an internal social media application for corporation/organisation to build connection among employees, enact on CSR strategies and give back to society.

As a UX Design intern, I work alongside the development team in designing key features across both mobile and web, flesh out information architecture and establishing key design language, leading to success delivery of the finished product.

Problems Statement

Since the pandemic, our client, a multi-national financial corporation, observed the negative effects that the hybrid work environment had among employees as they struggle to stay engaged with their workplace. As an organisation, the limited opportunities for physical events affected their ability to enact on CSR strategies, further disconnecting employees and impacting their brand image.

How might we foster employee engagement by unifying them under a single unified goal to give back to society while creating opportunities to connect colleagues around the world despite the lack of physical engagement?

Project Goals

1. Strengthen Employee Connection

The Force For Good app will provide the client's employees a cohesive digital platform to engage in meaningful socialisation despite being physically apart.

2. Motivation Thru Gamification

Through the app's gamification elements, events and challenges will provide increased engagement, encouraging employees to partake in friendly competition.

3. Unite to Do Good

Leveraging social features and gamification, the app will enable the corporation to enact on its CSR strategy, fostering stronger employee connections under a single goal.

Discovery

Research on Similar Apps

Physical activity tracker is one of the core functionality of the FFG app. Employees can partake in physical challenges and upload their record onto the app.

My discovery research focused on apps with physical activity tracking features (e.g., Strava) to understand how these tracking-functionality could be integrated with gamification and social aspects in the FFG app.

Design System

As part of the design process, I expanded upon the existing design system. With the app being offered in both web and mobile, the scalability of each components had to be accounted for.

Wireframing and Prototyping

Within sprint iteration, I worked alongside the Design Lead to develop high-fidelity wireframes based on the client's requirement for different features of the app. Prototypes depicting the user flows are also produced for the clients, I also had to present the prototype and conduct discussion on our design choices with the stakeholders.

Information Architecture

With the features and modules undergoing changes through each different sprint iterations, I updated the Information Architecture to reflect these changes, creating visible structure for both the development team and client.

Active Challenges

Fostering friendly competition, users can partake in physical challenges as individual or together with their colleagues as a team. User can record their activities through the in-app fitness tracker or paired their device with 3rd-party apps.

Users who are unable to head outside can also participate through social challenges. Write about your latest reads, share how you contribute to the environment and many more!

Real-time leaderboard that update as participants earn GCoins, these points can then be donated to the organisation's partnered charities.

After over 12 weeks of development and iteration, the MVP of Force For Good app was launched in June of 2022. The launch welcomed over thousands of sign ups from employees of the corporation all around the world.
